I am an academic physiatrist at the University of Calgary. I am currently is a member of the division of physical medicine and rehabilitation and the department of clinical neurosciences at the University of Calgary and the co-lead for the Hotchkiss Brain Institutes traumatic brain injury neuroteam. My research interests include outcomes in traumatic brain injury, and appropriate treatment for persistent symptoms following TBI.
Specifically, I am interested in diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in traumatic brain injury. I am currently involved in two prospective trials in sport concussion. The first is looking at the relationship between robotic assessments, neuroimaging and fluid biomarkers as prediction tools for prognosticating outcomes. The second is using acute neuroendocrine biomarkers to prognosticate outcomes in sport concussion. As well, we are interested in looking at clinical outcomes for patients with persistent symptoms following mild traumatic brain injury to target specific treatment paradigms.
