HEMOTION results published in the NEJM

We are very pleased and proud to share that the results of the HEMOTION trial, led by Alexis Turgeon and his co-PIs François Lauzier and Dean Fergusson, has just been published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38869931/

Conducted in 34 hospitals in Canada, the UK, France and Brazil, the trial tested whether a liberal transfusion strategy could improve long term outcomes in critically ill adult patients with moderate or severe traumatic brain injury, as compared to the more standard restrictive one. Although the observed beneficial effect on the GOSe was not statistically significant, the overall findings suggest that a liberal strategy is most likely the preferred option to use in this patient population.

In addition, results were presented and unveiled at the international CCR24 congress (Critical Care Reviews Meeting CCR24, June 12-14, 2024), in Belfast (Ireland): https://criticalcarereviews.com/
